“The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land.” - G.K. Chesterton
Two days now I have been in a land that is different from my own. While there are plenty of Krispy cream doughnuts, Hardies and Pizza Huts. It is always a bit strange to hail a taxi and go through 2 or 3 different languages before discovering the easiest way to communicate. While returning from the Global Village in Dubai, a Janurary festival that host many countries from around the world, (a sort of “Worlds Fair”) I started to think of how things will change in the States while im away, and the head rush I will experiance when I return, what new Apple toy will have been introduced, or will I be able to make a cell call with out the chip in my head, just a joke WELL I dont think it will be that soon.
While reading on my lovely new Kindle I cam across the statment above of G.K. Chestersons and I simply started to reflect on the paradoxical statment. “to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land.”
I am considering today how the object of our time on earth is to be more open to things out side of what I can do for ME!!! That my eyes could be fixed upon God and how He sees the world and not our hope of world powers, political leaders, or our own doing.
My object of Travel as I continue to move about the world is to remember the place I call home is not on this planet I am simply an alien on my way to another place.
